The student mentors and UTeach interns who make up our staff are essential to the Hello Maker Studio's success. They foster and maintain the culture of the studio, facilitate the equipment and tool training sessions, and assist visiting makers with everything from technical support to questions about career pathways

Required Training
Before becoming a staff member at the Hello Maker Studio, you will be asked to complete maker staff training. This training will take place one week before the beginning of the following semester. More details will be provided after completion of the maker staff interview.

Credit Options
Mentor Credit
If you’re working for mentor credit, you will need to mentor for 6-8 hours per week, attend staff meetings, train UGS 303 students on equipment, assist new Hello Maker Studio users, help fix equipment, and attend outreach events. This provides a balanced mix of hands-on mentoring and engagement with the community.
Volunteer Credit
For volunteer credit, you are expected to mentor for a minimum of 3 hours per week, help in the Hello Maker Studio when possible, attend staff meetings, train UGS 303 students, assist new Hello Maker Studio users, help with equipment repair, and attend outreach events. This offers a flexible and rewarding way to contribute without the formal requirement of paid hours or specific credit courses.

Another avenue for joining our team is through the UTeach internship program. Hello Maker Studio is an ideal placement option as it affords students with hands-on experiences around lesson facilitation, project management, and innovative technology; a perfect combination of skills for future educators.
