We're delighted to offer a three credit-hour Signature Course focused on DIY Assistive Tech, facilitated by Professor Patrick Benfield, the Studio Director. In this fast-paced, introductory level class, students learn the fundamentals of design thinking and making to create assistive devices for people with disabilities.
Besides the in-class learning experiences, students also regularly visit Hello Maker Studio for additional training, support, and skill development with our staff. By working with a diverse range of concepts, from machine learning and electronics to cardboard prototyping and 3D printing, students learn to think, make, and solve problems like innovators.
The culminating event of the course is a public showcase and demonstration of their inventions at the CNS Maker Faire, which is held in and around Hello Maker Studio and The Nucleus.
