CNS offers a unique, staff-led medical shadowing opportunity in Thessaloniki, Greece. This immersive two-week program gives students the chance to observe healthcare professionals in real clinical settings while experiencing the rich culture, history, and daily life of one of Europe’s most vibrant cities. This program is designed to give students real-world insight into medical practice while fostering cross-cultural understanding and global citizenship.
Program Highlights
Students will:
- Shadow physicians in both clinical and surgical departments for over 20 hours per week
- Participate in cultural excursions to historic sites like Mt. Olympus and Vergina
- Enjoy group meals at highly rated local restaurants
- Stay in centrally located, fully furnished apartments
- Receive support from English-speaking site managers available 24/7

Cost & Eligibility
- Participants must be current CNS undergraduates graduating in May 2026 or later
- Estimated Program Fee: $3,600 per student (airfare NOT included)
- There is substantial scholarship support for this program and applicants can complete an additional essay in the application to be considered for scholarships.
- Students must provide proof of basic vaccinations and carry health, accident, and professional liability insurance

- What personally and/or academically do you hope to gain from this experience? What about Medical Shadowing in Greece specifically appeals to you?
- How are you a good fit for the program? Think about your background and experiences both on and off-campus.
- Additional questions about scholarship need and an additional essay question will be asked for students applying for funding.
Secure a Recommendation from a UT Faculty, Staff or Graduate Teaching Assistant
- The application requires a short recommendation survey from a UT Faculty, Staff or Graduate Teaching Assistant.
- Contact your recommender ahead of submitting the application to make sure they are prepared to complete a recommendation on your behalf. The survey will automatically send once the application has been submitted. The survey should take about 5 minutes to complete and will be due by December 4th, 2025.
